I was pleased when the Google team responsible for document management of the Google Spreadsheet fixed the problem where I (and many others I think) could not delete their own spreadsheets.
Cool.
Then I found that I still could not paste into cells from outside the Spreadsheet. To be precise, if I filled my copy/paste buffer from some plain text application, then went to paste it in the Google Spreadsheet, then nothing happened. This included trying the Google buttons on the menu in the application, alternate-clicking to bring up the pop-up menu in the cell and using paste and using the OS’s paste key combo.
No joy.
Drat.
But. I have found an answer. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again or in this case try once more in rapid succession. Yes, on my Mac, in Google Spreadsheet, with a cell selected (not double clicked in edit mode, just selected), if I Apple-key-AND-v (the usual paste key combo) and then re-press the ‘v’ again quickly (something quicker than 3 seconds seems to do it), then the paste buffers contents dutifully paste themselves into the cells.
I am sure this is an ephemeral requirement and the code that runs the Spreadsheet will no doubt be updated to resolve this, but until then, click-click.
